During the XII century, the St. János-knights who dealt with nursing, then the knights of Rhodes and Malta settled down near the Lukács Baths, they had their monasteries very close to the baths.
The newly built complex, which offers a wellness area, infrasauna, and diving pool to its visitors, was opened in 2019.
The short history of St. Lukács Bath
During the Turkish reign, it was the favored bathing location of Mustafa Pasha, but the Turkish also used the energy of these springs to produce gunpowder and to grain mills, and at one point they also ran a mill here. After freeing Buda, the bath became the property of the treasury.
In 1844, Fülöp Palotay bought it and started a series of transformations. The bath stay was built, a modern water medicine department has been established and the pool has been rebuilt. People who wanted to heal came from all over the world, and people who had successfully healed left pale “thank-you” marble boards in the garden of the bath!
The hall of the bath was built in 1937. It was in the Lukács Baths, in Budapest, in 1979 where the first complex medicinal unit, a day hospital was established.
In 1999, the outdoor swimming pools were upgraded. The so-called mud lake was replaced by an adventure pool.
The newly built complex, which offers a wellness area, infrasauna, and diving pool to its visitors, was opened in 2019.
